Officers for the 2014-15 Foundation Trust for Trenton High School were elected this weekend as well as support given to the Trenton R-9 School System.
Dr. John Holcomb was re-elected president along with secretary Steve Maxey and Becky Cochran as treasurer. Chosen as vice president was Steve Muff, filling an office that has been vacant. All are from Trenton.
Board members obligated funds to purchase two park benches for the THS Tennis Courts and approved the use of tennis court maintenance dollars for recent cleaning of the courts. A request for dual credit scholarships was tabled with a committee appointed to gather more information.
All three proposals were presented by R-9 Superintendent Becky Albrecht.
Alumni Coordinator Karen Saul discussed the various activities held over the weekend and expressed appreciation to Nicole McHargue Neal and the Class of 1989 for their planning of this year’s celebration.
In other business, board members approved conducting an audit of both the foundation and alumni association accounts following the closure of this weekends’ events.
On behalf of the Class of 1964, Dr. Holcomb announced a gift to the foundation in the amount of $1,200. Members agreed to leave annual alumni dues at $10 per person and discussion was heard on creating a stronger presence on the school website regarding the foundation and alumni organization.
Foundation board members agreed to leave the sponsorship of alumni association dances up to the respective classes in the future and not be responsible for income, expense or liabilities of such.
Announced as the steering committee for 2015 and representing the Class of 1990 were Tara Bailey Lewis, Marjorie Lafferty Jones, Kim Robinson Kauffman, Kayla McNabb Wilson, Brandt Boland, Scott Maxey, Brandon Norton and Corie Cutsinger.

Classes of 1935-39
The Trenton High School classes of 1935, 1936, 1937, 1938 and 1939 met on Saturday at the Lakeview Restaurant. Max Oyler, class of 1936, hosted the dinner. News of other members was shared as well as school memories. Plans were made to meet again next year at the same time and place.
Those attending were Lucille Smith of Brimson, Class of 1935; Virginia Peery Tolle of Liberty, Class of 1936; Max Oyler, Class of 1936; Nina Petterson of Trenton (spouse of Bill Petterson, Class of 1936); and Dorothy Turner McMullin of Cottonwood, AZ, Class of 1939. Guests were Jenelle Tolle Graber of Liberty, guest of Virginia Tolle; and Herb and Mary Lynn Griffin of Gilman City, guests of Lucille Smith.
Classes of 1940-43
The Trenton High School classes of 1940, 1941, 1942 and 1943 met on Saturday evening at the First Christian Church for visiting and dinner. Mary Lou Crawford was emcee for the evening.
After the welcome, Louis Watkins asked the blessing. Tables were decorated by Bonnie Moore using the black and gold colors. Evening dinner arrangements were made by Don and Letha Woodard. Mrs. Crawford thanked each of these for a job well done.
Thinking of you notes were signed to be sent to Guy Keuhn, Charles Hoffman and Marjorie Power. Mrs. Crawford announced that greetings had been received from Mariam Philips, Martha Stone, Jim Witten, Kay Kurtz and Mrs. Power, 1943 graduates. Mrs. Woodard had received a call from Kathryn Nickell, class of 1941, who expressed her good wishes for the evening.
The names of known deceased were read: Class of 1941, reported by Letha Woodard, were Katherine Bonta, Dorothy Moore, Leona Dell Keuhn, Donna Wharton, Jack Hatton and Margaret Hulen; class of 1943, reported by Mrs. Crawford, were Charles Dix and Mildred Lundeen. She also said there were 10 graduates in local nursing homes.
Appreciation was expressed to each one attending and especially to those who travelled from out of town. Hopefully, all will be able to attend the next dinner on Sept. 5, 2015.
The meeting was dismissed with Max Oyler leading the group in singing the “Alma Mater.”

Class of 1949
The THS Class of 1949 met for their class reunion at Selby Hall cafeteria on Saturday.
Anna Martin gave a reading that contained all class members when in the ninth grade. Pictures were taken and it was decided to have a brunch that includes the Class of 1948 next year.

Attending from the Class of 1948 were Pat Roda McWilliams and Barbara Wilson Knudsen.
Class of 1951
The THS Class of 1951 met for their 63rd reunion at the First Christian Church activity center on Saturday with 25 class members and 14 guests present.
Donna Hammer gave the blessing before the meal. There was a lot of visiting and reminiscing and looking at pictures from high school and prior reunions. The class will hold its 64th reunion in 2015 and meets the second Monday of each month at the Lakeview Restaurant at 10:30 a.m.

The THS Class of 1953 met for lunch at Royal Inn Pizza on Saturday.

Class of 1954
The THS Class of 1954 met on Saturday evening, Aug. 30, at the North 65 Center, to commemorate their 60th year class reunion.
Following a catered meal a business meeting was held under the leadership of Wayne Brassfield, class president. The decision was made for the class to meet yearly from now on during the alumni reunion for dinner or a luncheon. The group thanked George Ewing for compiling a class directory and biographies of memories who submitted them.
A short memorial service conducted by Brassfield, Tom Kirk and Earnestine Shull was held to honor the approximately 32 deceased class members.
The evening was completed with music furnished by Bill and Barbara Whitten, Bob Manuel, Doug Roberts and Tom Taylor.

Class of 1969
The THS Class of 1969 held their 45th reunion at Cross Hall on the NCMC campus on Aug. 30.
They met at 11 a.m. to visit and tour Cross Hall and Geyer Hall. Dr. Albert Cross led the tour of Cross Hall and Teresa Cross took the group through Geyer Hall. They had lunch at noon in the Cross Hall Coffee shop. After lunch, the group went on a field trip to Thompson House, where they visited with Casey Guernsey, who was there to give an update on the restoration project and to answer questions. To conclude the day’s activities, class members and guests enjoyed wine tasting at the Black Silo Winery.
