The Grundy County Democratic and Republican central committees met Tuesday night to reorganize for the coming year.
The Democrat Committee met at Royal Inn Pizza and elected the following officers: Marie Dolan, chairman; Ed Arnold, vice chairman; Beverly Whorton, secretary; and Dan Dennis, treasurer.
Those elected as committee members in the August primary were Dan Dennis, third ward; John Dolan, fourth ward; Terry and Marie Dolan, Jackson Township; Betty Grambling, Liberty Township; Thomas Kenady and Patricia Koon, Madison Township; and Ed and Charlene Arnold, Taylor Township. Elected by the committee to fill vacancies were Charles and Marilyn Davidson, second ward; Beverly Whorton, third ward; Barb Pfaff, fourth ward; and Jack Clark, Washington Township.
Prosecuting Attorney Christine Stallings addressed the gathering regarding her re-election campaign. Plans were made concerning the Missouri Day Festival.
The next meeting was set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at Royal Inn Pizza.
The Grundy County Republican Committee met at the Grundy County Courthouse to reorganize. Officers re-elected for the coming year were Gary Black, chairman; Becky McDonald, vice chairman; Diane Lowrey, secretary; and L.D. Gibson, treasurer.
L.D. and Sara Gibson were approved to fill vacancies in Myers Township and names of individuals to fill committee vacancies were also discussed. Black is to contact those persons to see their interest.
There was also discussion concerning a future fundraiser for Prosecuting Attorney candidate Carrie Lamm-Clark prior to the November General Election. It was announced that the Seventh District State Representative District reorganization meeting would be held on Wednesday, Aug. 20 in Chillicothe and the 12th District State Senate District reorganization meeting would be held on Saturday, Aug. 23 in Cameron. Mrs. McDonald will be representing Grundy County at those meetings.
