A total of 121 properties will be offered for sale at the annual Grundy County delinquent tax sale at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 25 at the Grundy County Courthouse.
According to Grundy County Treasurer/Collector Barbara Harris, the number of properties is down from 158, which were scheduled to be sold when the list was first announced in July. Owners have come in to pay the back taxes on 37 properties since that time. Of the 121 properties scheduled to be offered, 49 are first-time sales, 36 are second-time sales, 13 are third-time sales, 21 are fourth-time sales and 2 are fifth-time sales.
Madison Township is offering the largest number of properties, 57, with all being located at Leisure Lake. Trenton Township has 25 properties for sale. Other townships and their numbers include Wilson, 14; Franklin, 11; Liberty, 10; Taylor, 3 and Marion, 1.
Property owners will have until 9 a.m. the day of the sale to pay the taxes owed. All buyers must be Missouri residents and cannot owe any back taxes.
