Norman R. Borders
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at River of Life United Pentecostal Church of Trenton. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
Open visitation will begin after 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 and all day Friday, Aug. 15, 2014 with a scheduled family visitation held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.
Mr. Borders was born on Dec. 2, 1931 in St. Louis, the son of Herman and Edith Vaughn Borders. He was married to Sylvia Bradley on Jan. 13, 1951 in Pocahontas, AR. He attended Cleveland High School in St. Louis. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
He was a manager of a waste oil refinery at Deffenbaugh for 14 years. He was a police officer at Excelsior Springs and volunteer police officer in North Kansas City. He was employed with MoDOT for 10 years and was a security guard at Modine for five years, winning the guard of the month.
He was a member of the River of Life United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Borders of Trenton; daughters, Edith Parish of Fredericksburg, VA and Cynthia Calivere and her husband, John of Trenton; sons, Norman Borders Jr. and his wife, Kathryn of Baytown, TX, Phillip Borders and his wife, Judy of Trenton, Robert D. Borders of Trenton and Joshua Borders and his wife, Tiffany of Trenton; brothers, Robert G. Borders and his wife, Nancy of St. Louis and Phillip Borders of Glendale, AZ; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, James Huegenin of St. Louis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; four brothers; three sisters; an infant granddaughter; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a son-in-law, Richard Parish.
