A music teacher was hired and employee health insurance was approved during a meeting of the Tri-County R-7 board of education held Thursday evening in Jamesport.
According to information provided by Superintendent David Probasco, the board held an executive session after which they voted to offer a teaching contract to Teresa Quigley for a part-time music position for the 2014-2015 school.
The board approved changing the health insurance providers from Blue Cross to Lifestyles, offered through the Mike Keith Agency. The effective date of the coverage is Sept. 1 and the board also authorized the Mike Keith Agency to provide ancillary benefits and administer cafeteria plans.
Other items approved were the Zeroes Aren’t Permitted (ZAP) program as presented by the administration and fundraising request by the cheerleaders to sell Ozark Delight Lollipops. The date for graduation was set as 6 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015.
Board members toured the grounds and facilities to view the status of summer maintenance projects and building improvements. They also discussed a certificate of deposit but took no action. Transportation and the budget were also discussed, with no action taken.
The board set a special meeting for 7 p.m., Aug. 18 at which time the tax rate hearing will be held. The proposed rate is $4.1124 on the $100 assessed valuation, which is expected to bring in about $670,000 in revenue.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 8 in the superintendent’s office.
