Several area residents were injured in accidents over the weekend in Grundy, Daviess and Putnam counties.
On Sunday night, the Missouri Highway Patrol investigated a one-vehicle accident west of Spickard in which a Spickard man, Robert Blozvich, 49, was taken to Wright Memorial Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. The patrol said a pickup truck driven by Blozvich was southbound on West 60th Avenue when it went out of control on a gravel road, skidding off the east side of the road and striking an embankment. The truck overturned and came to rest on its top and was demolished.
The second accident occurred at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday in Putnam County, one mile northwest of Newtown.
The patrol said a van driven by William Dickinson, 60, of Newtown, was westbound and crossed the center line of the roadway, striking an eastbound car driven by Nikita Couch, 20 of Harris. Ms. Couch and two passengers in her vehicle, Garyallen Couch, 20, of Harris, and Jaymes D. Riggen, 19, of Trenton received minor injuries. All three were taken to the Putnam County Hospital in Unionville.
Dickinson was not reported injured. The Couch car received extensive damage while there was moderate damage to the van.
The third accident was on Saturday afternoon in Daviess County at the intersection of Route NN and Highway 6 at Jamesport.
The patrol said a car driven by Lila Searcy, 69, of Laredo, was southbound on Route NN and pulled out into the path of a westbound car driven by Bailey Schlatter, 20 of Mt. Pleasant, IA. The Searcy car was struck in the driver’s side. The Schlatter car slid off the south side of the highway. Mrs. Searcy was taken to Wright Memorial Hospital at Trenton for treatment of moderate injuries. The Searcy car received moderate damage while the Schlatter car was demolished.
