Vina Lee Spickard, an 85-year-old Trenton resident, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the First Christian Church of Trenton. Pastor Mike Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
Mrs. Spickard was born on Feb. 21, 1929 in Harrison County, the daughter of Otto Franklin and C. Hortense Fears McCloud. She was married to Tom Spickard on Aug. 8, 1948 in Trenton. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2010. After their marriage they lived west of Edinburg for five years until moving to a farm east of the Rural Dale Baptist Church.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed working on fellowship committees and was a member of the 50-50 Sunday school class. She served as president of the Herbert Willing Workers 4-H Club and was a project leader, receiving a 10-year pin. She served as township collector for Marion Township for 12 years. She was the secretary at Resthaven Mortuary from 1985 to 2002. The couple moved to Trenton to make their home in November 1991.
Mrs. Spickard is survived by two sons, Leslie Spickard and his wife, Betty of Trenton and Randy Spickard and his wife, Debbie of Macon; five brothers, Clarence McCloud of Corpus Christi, TX, Mike McCloud of Corpus Christi, TX, Glen McCloud of Loma, Robert McCloud of Blue Springs and Randall McCloud of Trenton; a sister, Clara Bell Newkirk of Independence; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Betty Jean McCloud.
