’Jays Fall To Chillicothe, Sweep Brookfield

The Trenton Blue Jays AAA American Legion team was in action on Sunday and Tuesday.
Trenton suffered a sweep at the hands of Chillicothe on Sunday, but Tuesday the team bounced back with a sweep of Brookfield.
Sunday
Trenton was at home on Sunday, taking on Chillicothe. The visitors would top the Blue Jays 16-2 in game one and 8-5 in game two. Justin Lenz took the loss on the hill in game one while Matt Safley led the offense in the opener with two hits. Wyatt Thomas and Tanner Hudson each had a hit in the game as well.
In game two, Trenton was led offensively with hits from Cade Mullenix and Zack Powell. Safely was the losing pitcher, giving up six runs on 10 hits while striking out five in six innings of work.
Tuesday
Trenton bounced back on the road on Tuesday, traveling to Brookfield, where the Blue Jays picked up wins of 12-7 and 19-0.
Game one saw Trenton’s offense come to life with 12 hits. Dillon Hall led the way with three hits while Justin Lenz added two hits, one of which was a home run over the centerfield fence. Camden Williams and Safely both had two hits as well and Powell, Alex Macomber and Alex Curtis all had one hit each.
Powell picked up the win on the hill, allowing seven runs on 13 hits while striking out four.
Game two lasted just three innings as Trenton put it on Brookfield with 19 runs. Ty Stillwell was the winning pitcher, throwing a three-inning no hitter. Stillwell faced just 10 batters in the game and struck out six.
Hall led the offense in the rout with a multi-hit game and Macomber, Safley and Lenz all had hits as well.
With the split of this week’s games, Trenton moved to 11-9 overall on the season.
The Blue Jays will be at home on Sunday, taking on Warrensburg in a doubleheader at Burleigh Grimes Field in Trenton. The first pitch of the first game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
