Mary Lucille Overton Kimbrell, age 79, passed away June 19, 2014, at Kansas City Hospice House.
Lucille was born Oct. 15, 1934 in Trenton to Almeda and Olen Overton. Shortly after the death of her mother and father, Lucille went to live with her Aunt Eula and Uncle Burl.
Lucy enjoyed a long and successful career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she met the love of her life, Herbert Kimbrell. That young romance blossomed into a 60-plus-year marriage. Sixty wonderful years that included a U.S. Army tour of duty in Germany with extensive European travel. Later came many Ararat Shrine Motor Corp trips.
Herb and Lucy established homes and community friends at Lake Lotawana, Alpine, CO and Green Valley, AZ. Social gatherings abounded with food, friends, and family. She had a genuine way of conveying her love, concern and respect for all of those around her. Lucy loved spending time with her godson, Sheldon, of Alpine, Colorado and Sheldon’s mother and father, Melanie and Walter. Another special guy in her life was Joey, her “Mr. Personality,” Toy Poodle.
Left to honor and remember her love are her husband, Herbert; sisters Laura (Del) Hart of Trenton and Christine Hale of Kansas City; and brother, George McCullough of Maine. Lucille also leaves sisters-in-laws, Helen Rea, Dorthy (Dick) Lewis, Virginia Kimbrell and Mary Ann Kimbrell; brother-in-law, Larry (Shirley) Kimbrell; and an extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding her in death was a brother, Don McCullough.
She will be greatly missed by us all. Our lives are enriched by her presence and love.
