’Jays Sweep Chilli Again, Extend Streak

Jun 6, 2014 | Baseball, Sports & Recreation

The Trenton Blue Jays AAA team extended their season-opening winning streak to four games Monday night with another two-game sweep of the Chillicothe Cardinals, this one coming on the road at Danner Park. The ’Jays took game one 6-5, then ran away with a 15-0 win in game two.
In game one, Trenton pulled out the win behind a pair of multi-hit games from Cade Mullenix and Hadley Williams, both of whom had two hits each. Tanner Hudson, Jared Brundage, Matt Safely and Alex Macomber all added one hit each. Safely was the winning pitcher on the hill for Trenton.
Safely would pick up the win in game two as well, throwing two innings, allowing no runs on one hit. The Blue Jay offense was the story of game two, however, exploding for 15 runs on 10 hits. Mullenix and Williams again had two hits each and Craig Richardson and Camden Williams each had two hits as well. Safely and Brandon Holland each had one hit in the win.
With the Blue Jays’ second two-game sweep of Chillicothe, Trenton improved to 4-0 on the season. The AAA ’Jays will be back in action on Sunday, traveling to Moberly for a doubleheader. Game one is set for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
