Larry Gene Wynne, a 71-year-old resident of Council Bluffs, IA, died on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Maher-Livingston Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Burial was in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Wynne was born on Feb. 13, 1943 in Brimson, the son of Howard and Georgia Lawrence Wynne. He worked for and was retired from the railroad. He was an avid fast-pitch softball pitcher until the age of 60 and also competitive in horseshoes.
He is survived by his wife, Lona; four daughters, Sherri Gibbs and her husband, Robert of Springfield, Christine Gurule and her husband, Jerry of Glendale, AZ, Lisa Mayzsak and her husband, Scott of Lawson and Karen Lai and her husband, Paul of Rockford, IL; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ray Wynne and his wife, Beverly of Krum, TX, John “Bennie” Wynne and his wife, Marylin of Dallas, TX and Lawrence “Babe” Wynne of Princeton; an aunt, Bonnie Shockey of Trenton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in the Trenton area.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Archie Wynne.
