Laredo Holds Alumni Banquet

The 2014 Laredo High School Alumni Banquet was held Saturday, May 10 in the Laredo School gymnasium with the theme, “One Room Schools.”
The evening began with hospitality and refreshments until dinner was served. President Linda Urich welcomed all alumni and guests, followed by the pledge to the U.S. flag and the invocation given by Lena Cooksey. The Murphy Scholarship Award was presented to Malinda Foster with the second-place alumni award going to Mason Larson.
After the meal, the business meeting began with the board secretary-treasurer Marlene Engleman reading last years’ minutes and treasurer’s report. Linda Urich recognized the oldest graduate, Dorotha Berry, from the class of 1942. Dick McMillen was recognized as traveling the farthest from Chesapeake VA. Betty Peterie was recognized for never missing a banquet. Mary Freeman and Donna Pat Triplett were recognized as being graduates from multiple generations.

Former teachers present were Emma Gardner, H.K. Myers and guest, Annette. The memorial service was presented by Joann Mantlo and Kathy Waits for 10 alumni who had passed away this year.
The benediction was given by Kathy Waits and the rest of the evening was spent by visiting, taking pictures and looking through old photos and memorabilia.
