Ciara Colene Gibson and John Eugene Bauer were married at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014, in a double-ring ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City.
The parents of the bride are Jim and Jeanie Gibson of Trenton and parents of the groom are Kim and Kevin Thompson of Vienna and Dewayne Bauer of Jefferson City. Grandmothers of the bride are Leeila Kilburn and Colene Davis. Grandparents of the groom are Tony and Muriel Bauer, Henry and Helen Weed, Doris O’Neal and Rachel Lock.
The wedding was performed by the bride’s uncle, Gary Watkins, standing in front of a large communion table filled with green and white hydrangeas, ivy and white candles in large clear vases flanked by two large white candelabras.
The bride was given away by her father and wore an ivory satin strapless mermaid style gown with a sweetheart neckline and embellished with clear and pearl beading with a short train. She also wore a short veil at the back of her hair which matched the dress with similar beading. Her bridal bouquet was white and light green hydrangeas, white cabbage roses, small white ranunculus and freesia.
The matron of honor was Kelly Wray, friend of the bride. Christina Hudson, sister of the groom, Kiley Tigges, friend of the bride and Jennifer Woolsey, cousin of the bride were bridesmaids. They all wore light green chiffon full-length strapless gowns with a sweetheart neckline. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of white hydrangeas.
The candle lighters were both friends of the bride, Katherine Hoffman and Sarah Eshleman, who wore knee-length black dresses in the same style as the bridesmaids.
The flower girls were Gabriella Gibson who wore a sleeveless, white satin tea length dress with a white flower headpiece and followed the other flower girl, Kenzie Sutton, niece of the groom, down the aisle in a white decorated children’s wagon. Kenzie also wore a full length white satin dress that was similar to Gabriella’s. The program attendants were also nieces of the groom, Jada and Trinity Sutton.
The best man was Seth Nelson, friend of the groom. The groomsmen were Joe Stokes, cousin of the groom, and Todd Feeler and Josh Parrish, both friends of the groom. Ushers were the brother of the bride, Sean Gibson, and Jay Higgins, brother-in-law of the groom. All of the groom’s party wore black tuxedos with white shirts, black vests and ties. The boutonnieres reflected the groom’s love of hunting with green shotgun shells filled with baby’s breath and green hypercurium berries.
The bridal party preceded the bride down the aisle to “Canon in D” and the bride and her father walked in to the orchestral version of “A Thousand Years”. The bride and groom also presented flowers to their mothers and grandmothers while the song, “God Gave Me You” was played.
The reception was held at Braykley’s Hall in Centertown, Missouri, with a buffet at 6 p.m. and the cake-cutting of the two tiered white and chocolate cake with the couple’s last initial on top. The groom’s cake, a carrot cake, was a small tree stump with a Browning logo on top. Joan Imhoff and Barb Touchette, both co-workers of the bride, were in charge of cutting the cakes.
The couple, who live in Tebbetts, returned from their honeymoon in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The bride is employed in the Finance and IT Departments for the City of Jefferson City and the groom is employed by Gleeson’s Landscaping in Hermann.
