Stanley O’Dell, a 79-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Alpha Cemetery at Alpha.
There is no scheduled family visitation. General visitation is under way at the funeral home.
Mr. O’Dell was born on Dec. 15, 1934 in Chillicothe, the son of Charles and Abbie Hatfield O’Dell. He owned and operated Red Ball Salvage in Chillicothe since 1975. He worked at L&O and Lionberger Auto Sales for 25 years. He was a member of the Alpha Baptist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe. He was also a member of the Chillicothe Park Board and the Livingston County Men’s Democratic Club. He enjoyed goose and duck hunting, and mushroom hunting, watching NASCAR, the Kansas City Chiefs, traveling and cars. He was a Special Deputy for Sheriff Leland O’Dell.
He was married at Chillicothe on May 22, 1954 to Velda Molloy, who survives of the home.
He is also survived by one daughter, Kathy O’Dell of Richmond; two grandchildren Natalie McLean and her husband, Joe of Excelsior Springs and Rachel Trump of Chillicothe; four great-grandchildren, Madi Condron of St. Louis, Cassidy and Mark Riley Trump of Trenton and Lydia McLean of Excelsior Springs; and two brothers, Vernon O’Dell and his wife, Joy of North Fort Meyers, FL and Donald O’Dell and wife Betty of Chillicothe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Carol Ann O’Dell; three brothers, Robert, Charles and Benny O’Dell; and five sisters, Lula Burton, Gloria Moon, Nellie Windle, Alice Cashatt and Bessie O’Dell.
