The former principal at Tri-County R-7 School has been charged with three felonies involving forgery and the use of students to commit the crime.
According to the Gallatin-North Missourian, Bryan McArthur of Trenton has been charged with one count of forgery, a class C felony, and two counts of conspiracy to commit forgery, class D felonies, in connection with an incident that occurred at the school in Jamesport on Feb. 28. McArthur allegedly asked two students to come to his office, where he showed them a piece of paper with the signature of his son on it. He then had the students attempt to sign the name on a blank piece of paper. McArthur then allegedly had one of the students sign his son’s name on the back of a U.S. Treasury check made in the amount of $234. The check was made out to his son, Corey. McArthur then left the school and deposited the check into his checking account at Home Exchange Bank, knowing that the signature was not that of his son.
McArthur’s bond was set at $35,000 and he was released after posting a 10 percent cash deposit.
McArthur, who had been serving in his second year as principal at the school, was placed on administrative leave during a special board meeting held March 3. He had already submitted his resignation for the 2014-2015 school year.
