The Princeton FFA Livestock Team took top honors in livestock judging at the Missouri State FFA Career Development Events held on Thursday in Columbia.
Princeton was first among 60 teams participating in the judging and also had the top two individual judges in Thomas Mallinson and Justin Hamilton. Tessa Schwartz-kopf placed 10th. Abby McLain was the other team member.
The Princeton team, which earned a Group I rating, will represent Missouri CDE judging at the National FFA Convention later this year.
Princeton also captured 12th place and a II rating in horse judging. Team members were Drew Cox, Brant Faulkner and Nichole Oswalt. The Poultry Team earned 17th place and a II rating. Team members were Hunter Boxley, Savannah Milburn, Damien Miller and Jacob Schwenneker.
Trenton had two teams in competition on Thursday. The FFA Knowledge Team placed 47th and received a III rating. Team members were Dalton Berry, Mariah Fox, Rylee Berti and Jaylen Neff. The Farm Management Team placed 37th and earned a III rating. Adam Kirby, Caitlin McNabb and Jenna Meservey made up the team.
Grundy R-5’s Farm Management team finished 29th and earned a II rating. Team members were Mason Alley, Destin Gann, Mckenna Owens and Emily Torrey.
Gilman City had two teams in competition. The Soils Team finished 13th and a II rating, with Kayley Burnett, Trevor Burrows, Saige Holmes and Joslyn Newton as members. The Agronomy Team earned 34th place and a II rating. Team members were Hailey Francis, Morgan Mullnix, Morgan Reed and Hannah Snuffer.
The Jamesport Entomology Team took 19th place and earned a II rating. Members were Dillon Cook, Tyler Lane, Ashly Madison and Nate Sutton.
Mercer was 27th in horse judging and earned a II rating. Team members included Jessica Levis, Jessica Phillips, Brylee Shipley and Brittany Snow.
Among Proficiency Award winners, Thomas Mallinson of Princeton was the first-place winner in Beef Production Entrepreneurship while Mason Larson of Grundy R-5 was second in Ag Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneur-ship. Brock Larson of Newtown-Harris is the Area 3 representative on the State FFA Officer Team.
Convention events continue today, with the awarding of state degrees this evening.
