The Grundy R-5 High School and Junior High track and field teams were in action on Wednesday, traveling to the Wildcat Relays in Milan. The top three performers in each event medaled.
Grundy’s high school girls team scored several medals on the day with Mckenna Owens leading the way. Owens grabbed gold in the 200-meter dash and was third in the 100-meter dash. She was also a part of the 4×400-meter relay team with Ivy Rottman, Kylie Littleton and Emma Novak, which placed second. The same four made up the 4×100-meter relay team, which placed third at the meet.
Matana Munday scored a second-place finish in the discus and was third in the shot put. Rottman rounded out Grundy’s medalwinners at the high school level, finishing third in the 800-meter run.
Grundy was unable to win a medal in the boys meet.
At the junior high level, Grundy picked up four third-place medals in the girls meet and one second-place medal in the boys meet. The Lady Panthers were led by Zoe Littleton, who was third in the long jump, third in the high jump and combined with Sadee Jackson, Emma Baxter and Morgan Axtell to place third in the 4×200-meter relay. Jackson picked up an individual third-place medal in the 800-meter run.
For the junior high boys, Carson Radcliff finished second in the long jump.
