Mary E. Applegate, a 76-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton, with visitation an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
Mrs. Applegate was born on Feb. 22, 1938, the daughter of Harry and Agnes Wilford George. She graduated from Galt High School in 1955.
She was married in Galt on June 16, 1968 to Donald Applegate, who preceded him in death on May 16, 2011. Mrs. Applegate was a member of the Trenton First Christian Church. She enjoyed reading and spending time and drinking coffee with her friends at McDonald’s.
Survivors include a niece, Teresa and her husband, Gerald Olney of Chillicothe; a nephew, Gary Applegate of Kansas City; great nieces, Amy and her husband, Drew Dixson of Chillicothe and Holly and her husband, Eric Stephens of Chillicothe; two great-great nieces; two great-great nephews; and several cousins living in Galt and Trenton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
