Public programs involving the seizing of electronic evidence as well as crimes committed against minors and children over the Internet are planned for Tuesday, May 6 in Trenton.
Detective Andy Anderson of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department will conduct the programs, which will be held in the Ketcham Community Center. They are sponsored by the Green Hills Citizens Advisory Board-Probation and Parole, the Trenton Police Department and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department. There is no charge to attend.
The electronic evidence class will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and will include discussions of special challenges, including encryptions and documenting a home network as well as search warrants nn the examination of computers, cell phones and associated media. The Internet program will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. and will include discussion of some of the most common sites where children can be victimized as well as challenges law enforcement faces. In addition, there will also be discussion of pornography on the Internet, sexting and cyber bullying and child enticement.
