The Grundy R-5 High School and Junior High track and field teams were in action on Wednesday, traveling to Ludlow for the Southwest Livingston Relays. Grundy was unable to grab a gold medal in the high school meet, but came up with a multitude of fourth-place showings.
Mckenna Owens was fourth in the 200-meter dash and combined with Emily Milazzo, Ivy Rottman and Emma Novak to place fourth in the 4×400-meter relay. The same four also combined for a fourth-place finish in the 4×800-meter relay. Rottman placed fourth in the 800-meter run and Matana Munday was fourth in the shot put.
On the boys side, Grundy R-5 had one placewinning performance as the 4×400-meter relay team of Cade Mullenix, Thomas Dalton, Alex Webb and Chris Burkin crossed the line in fourth.
In junior high action, Grundy got its lone gold medal of the meet, coming from Zoe Littleton, who won the high jump. Littleton was also third in the long jump and combined with Alissa Webb, Emma Baxter and Morgan Axtell to take second in the 800-meter medley relay. Littleton, Baxter, Axtell and Saedee Jackson combined for a third-place finish in the 4×800-meter relay and Webb, Jackson, Baxter and Makenzy Lawyer combined to place fourth in the 4×400-meter relay.
In junior high boys action, Russell Neeley placed third in the discus and Wayne Baxter, Carter Searcy, Zane Rottman and Jonathan Stimpson placed fourth in the 4×400-meter relay.
