In game one, NCMC had its best offensive showing, but still wound up one run short as seven errors proved to be too much for the Lady Pirates to overcome. Scotlin Hurley was two-for-three with a double, three runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base to lead NCMC at the plate. She was also the losing pitcher despite allowing just three earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four.
In game two, NCMC managed just one run, coming on a RBI single by Randi Davis that scored Tierney Martin. Lauren White was the tough-luck loser in the circle, throwing seven innings and allowing three runs, none earned, on seven hits and no walks while striking out three. The Lady Pirates pushed their error total to 10 for the series with three more fielding miscues.
In the third meeting of the series, the Lady Pirates fell 3-2 in eight innings. Hurley took the loss, throwing seven and two-thirds innings and alowing two earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out two. The Lady Pirates got an RBI from Hailey Lowery and Demesha Huddleston and Shelby Salter scored the two Lady Pirate runs.
The finale of the series saw NCMC fall 9-1. NCMC got one run on an RBI single by Martin that scored Macie Kinsey in the second inning. That was all the Lady Pirates would get, however, and Three Rivers teed off at the plate, scoring nine runs on nine hits, one walk and six Lady Pirate errors. White was handed the loss in the circle, allowing five earned runs. She struck out two in the game.
All totaled, the Lady Pirates committed 19 errors in the four-game series.
The four losses dropped the Lady Pirates to 20-17 on the season and snapped a six-game winning streak for North Central. The Lady Pirates will look to bounce back on Thursday as they travel to Lamoni, IA to take on the Graceland University junior varsity. The first pitch for the scheduled doubleheader will be thrown at 2 p.m.
