Several members of the Trenton High School junior class attended the 27th Annual American Legion Youth Government Day on Tuesday in Jefferson City. The group was accompanied by Major Dale Stepp American Legion Post No. 31 Commander Jack Griffin and history instructor Brandon Boswell. The group visited individuals from branches of the state government as well a visit with Missouri Supreme Court Chief Justice Mary Rhodes Russell. The students also toured the governor’s office and the capitol building (visiting with Rep. Mike Lair and Sen. Brad Lager). During a noon luncheon the students heard an address by Missouri Adjutant Gen. Stephen L. Danner of Missouri National Guard. At the end of the day, students were treated to ice cream by Griffin and the Legion Post at the Central Dairy. Qualifications to attend the field trip were maintaining an A- or higher in American Government class as well as having at least a 95 percent attendance rate for school.
