The 2014 Green Hills Wellness Challenge concluded lastThursday and Friday, with 71 participants who finished the Wellness Challenge and 29 participants winning money.
To be eligible to be in the prize money, participants had to lose 10 percent of their initial weight and weigh in each week at KCC or GCHD. Participants were allowed to miss one weigh-in that did not count against them.
Each participant who achieved 10 percent or more of their initial weight and kept up with their weekly weigh ins will be receiving $83. They nclude Charles Ellis, Paul Bruinsma, Sabra Ferguson, Dena Courtney, Betty Trimble, Bev Speck, Anna Muselman, Susanna Crawford, Michael Brown, Susan Stull, Peggy Bradley, Dennis Campbell, Nathan Kottwitz, Stan Richardson, Alesia Campbell, Kristi Urich, Diana Hoppe, Ashley Boren, Shannon Snuffer, Doug Crawford, Christine Chaney, Holly Elliott, Becky Smith, Jamie Kottwitz, Corie Cutsinger, Dana Creason, Mike Burchett, Don Dalrymple and Kayla Slater.
Participants who won money may pick it up at Grundy County Health Department starting Friday, April 11 at 8:30 a.m. during regular business hours. For a complete list of the winners please check the Grundy County Health Department’s website and in the Trenton Republican-Times. Final results are listed on page 4 of today’s newspaper.
Participants in this year’s challenge lost a total of 1,776 pounds and 4.79 percent.
In addition to the prize money, two participants won subscriptions to the Trenton Republican-Times and two participants won a year’s membership to Ketcham Community Center. The journal winners are Rosslyn Maloney, Julia McIntyre, Lynn Daniels and Roger Cain. For participants who would like their journal back, they may be picked up at the Grundy County Health Department through April 18, after which time they will be discarded.
Abby Oberman of the health department, who coordinated this year’s challenge, is encouraging participants to keep up with their healthy lifestyles. A weigh-in event is being planned for June, witrh prizes to be given away.
