Funeral services for Keith Edger Abbey are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A visitation will be from 7 until 8 this evening (Tuesday, April 1, 2014) at the funeral home.
Mr. Abbey, an 83-year old Trenton resident, died at 5:10 a.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Mr. Abbey was born on Jan. 24, 1931 in Creston, IA, the son of J. Hylton and Lillian B. Bell Abbey. From Jan. 12, 1951 until Dec. 2, 1953 he served in the United States Marine Corp. He was married in Trenton on April 1, 1956 to Helen McComb. Together they farmed most of their lives and Mr. Abbey also worked as a supervisor at Trenton Foods until his retirement.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Helen of the home; a son, Michael Abbey and his wife, Carole of Chillicothe; a sister-in-law, Irene Abbey of Bridgewater, IA; two granddaughters, Crystal Bryant of Dawn and Rachel Snider and her husband, Alan of Chillicothe; five great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Abbey Bryant and Audrey, Andrew and Aaron Snider; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Those preceding him in death include his parents and a brother, Leland Abbey.
Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice and left with or mailed to the funeral home.
