Idella Frances Akers, a 98-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at The Baptist Home in Chillicothe.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe.
A scheduled family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. General visitation will be held from noon until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Mrs. Akers was born on Feb. 3, 1916 in Chillicothe, the daughter of William F. and Annie Ethel Clark Reeter. She was married on July 6, 1932 in Chillicothe to Olen Ray Akers, who preceded her in death on July 21, 1979. The couple owned and operated a boarding home for the elderly for many years. She was a caregiver all of her life. She was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church at Chillicothe and she enjoyed baking.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin Ray Akers and his wife, Patricia Ann of Chillicothe and Marvin Wayne Akers and his wife, Dianna Sue of Chillicothe; one daughter, Linda Moore of Trenton; nine grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Olen; one daughter, Patricia McDowell; a great granddaughter, Courtney Noll; one daughter-in-law, Ann Akers; three sons-in-law, C.E. Noll, Bob McDowell and Gary Moore; three sisters, Leona Maye, Minnie Rachel and Elta Cristinia Reeter; and four brothers, Rollie Richard, George Phillip, William Kelsie and Roger Gillis Reeter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the North Missouri Baptist Home and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
