Trenton R-9 will again be offering summer school to students entering kindergarten through ninth grade.
Classes will run from Wednesday, May 28 to Friday, June 27 and will be held at the Rissler Elementary School.
Summer school application forms have been sent home with eligible students. School officials ask for all students to return the form whether they plan to attend or not. Parents of students not planning to attend can simply write the student’s name and “NO” on the application. Application forms should be returned to any school office by Friday, April 4.
The district is hoping to provide breakfast, lunch and transportation free of charge and is awaiting approval for those programs.
Curriculum will be developed in-house with an emphasis on specific reading skills students need to build. Since the district is not working with Newton Learning, the $100 perfect attendance incentive will not be offered. However, smaller incentives will be offered during the course of the program.
Persons with questions are asked to call librarian E’Lisha Gass at the Trenton Middle School, 359-4248. Mrs. Gass will be serving as the summer school administrator this year.
In addition, Trenton will also be offering credit recovering classes at the middle school and driver’s education at the high school.
