Digitalization Project Donation

Mar 20, 2014 | Headline News

The Bert and Rose Hoover Foundation has made a $17,000 donation to the Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library and Grundy County Genealogy Society to help fund the library’s newspaper digitalization project, which allows for the microfilm of old newspapers at the library to be saved and placed online. The microfilm dates back to 1894 and is used extensively in genealogy and other historical research. The Hoover Foundation donation is one-half the cost of what remains to finish the project and Foundation board members are challenging the public to help raise the additional funding. Donations can be dropped off at or mailed to the library. Persons can view the recently finished copies at http://grundycounty.advantage-preservation.com. Pictured are, from left, Librarian Theresa Hunsaker, Laura Sue Daniels of the Genealogy Society, Assistant Librarian Doris Baker and Meredith Black of the Hoover Foundation.
