In the fourth inning, the Pirates got on the board with Tyler White belting a leadoff double to centerfield. He then advanced to third on a wild pitch before scoring on an RBI single by Cody Lee. Lee then advanced to second when Tyler Rathmann was hit by a pitch. Juan Taveras reached on an error in the following at bat, loading the bases for NCMC with no outs. Joan Rondon followed with a single, driving in the Pirates’ second run and keeping the bases loaded with no outs. Danville was able to stop the bleeding, however, retiring the next three batters on a line-out, foul-out and strikeout. The Pirates would not score again despite having two runners on in the fifth and another in the seventh. All totaled, the Pirates scored two runs on five hits, six walks and two Danville errors.
Nolberto Rondon took the loss on the hill, giving up four runs on two hits and three walks in two-thirds of an inning pitched. The Pirates used four pitchers in six innings.
Game two saw the Pirates struggle, both offensively and defensively. NCMC allowed 11 hits to Florence-Darlington and committed four errors in the game, all adding up to six runs allowed. The Pirates’ batters, meanwhile, collected five hits and were unable to cross the plate once.
