John S. Moore, a 91-year-old resident of rural Chula, died on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens at Chillicothe.
There is no scheduled family visitation. General visitation is under way at the funeral home.
Mr. Moore was born on May 18, 1922 in Allendale, the son of Fred and Lucinda Elizabeth Gibson Moore. He was a 1939 graduate of Hatfield High School in Hatfield. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was married on Oct. 5, 1941 in Grant City to Martha “Jane” Totten, who survives of the home.
He is also survived by three daughters, Lucinda Morris and her husband, Larry of Perkasie, PA, Barbara Baxter and her husband, Danny of Chillicothe and Sue Gates and her husband, Brad of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Shane Baxter and his wife, Kathy of Chillicothe, Clint Baxter and his wife, Emily of Kearney, Chris Gates and his wife, Olivia of McPherson, KS and Jeffrey Gates and his wife, Patricia of Austin, TX; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Moore; one sister, Lucille Fletchall; and one nephew, Richard Moore.
