Rosie Hampton, a 94-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, 3014 at the Plainview Cemetery at Chula.
A family visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe,where general visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014.
Mrs. Hampton was born on Sept. 13, 1919 in Livingston County, the daughter of Frank and Levada Joslyn Graves. She was married in Carthage on Jan. 11, 1935 to Orville Hampton, who preceded her in death on June 23, 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Hampton and his wife, Carol of Princeton and John Hampton and his wife, Frances of Chillicothe; one daughter Shirley Hampton of Chillicothe; six grandchildren, Lisa Stephens and her husband, Chris of Princeton, Donna Bragg and her husband, Dennis of Corsicana, TX, Cathy Gillespie of Chula, Debbie Batson and her husband, Dennis of Chillicothe, Terry Hampton of Chula and Tim Hampton and his wife, Norma of Laredo; several great-grandchildren; and several great- great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Orville; one son, Jack Hampton; five brothers, Bill Graves, Clarence Graves, Jim Graves, Dale Graves and Kenny Graves; and five sisters, Edith Kutz, Clara Dillard, Dosey McCrary, Violet Moore and Margaret Plowman.
