Funeral services for Juanita Winifred Jones are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Trenton. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A visitation is scheduled from 7 until 8 o’clock tonight (Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014) at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.
Mrs. Jones, a 96-year-old Trenton resident, died at 8:34 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Mrs. Jones was born on April 20, 1917 in Brimson, the daughter of William and Mary Meek Jones. She graduated from Trenton High School as well as attended beautician school and William Jewell College.
She was married on March 24, 1939 at Trenton to Eldon Jones, who preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 2013. They farmed in the Brimson, area. They enjoyed traveling around the globe and spent winters the last 32 years in Texas.
Mrs. Jones was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Trenton and a very active former member in the Mount Pleasant #1 Cat Creek Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school, Bible school and serving as the church pianist.
Survivors include her son, Lewis Jones and his wife, Brenda of Gilman City; two grandchildren, Shannon Jones and his wife, Marjorie of Kansas City and Lisa Riley and her husband, Jeff of Olathe, KS; and five great-grandchildren, Anna and Sam Jones and Lauren, Luke and Jacob Riley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Ina Adams, Deleta Munn and Elgiva Moore; and a brother, Buell Lewis.
Memorial donations are suggested to the First Baptist Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
