Nancy Hellen Hadley Dyer Suntken, a 94-year-old resident of Lineville, IA, died on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel at Lineville, with Pastor Max Carmichael officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Lineville.
An open visitation begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at the funeral home. No family visitation is planned.
Mrs. Suntken was born on Jan. 1, 1920 in Mercer County, the daughter of John Andrew and Wilda Irene Davis Vinzant. In 1926, the family moved to Lineville, where Hellen attended school and graduated from Lineville High School in 1938.
She played the piano and organ in churches all over the United States, including churches in the states of Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Florida, California, Oregon, Washington, and Ohio.
She was married on March 23, 1940 in Davenport, IA to Lloyd Wyatt Hadley, who preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1993. They lived in many places, where he was a lay minister and she played piano and organ. They lived most of their married life in Kansas City.
She was also married in 1994 to Coy Dyer, who preceded her in death in 1995, and in 2001 to Fred Suntken, who preceded her in death in 2005.
She was a member of several Assembly of God churches and ministries during her lifetime.
She is survived by nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husbands, she was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Amy Browning, Shirley Owens, Merry Glee Shipley and Hazel Shepard; and four brothers, Jesse, Johnny, Cecil and Paul Vinzant.
