Delbert E. Burkeybile, a 60-year-old resident of Geneseo, IL, died on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at UnityPoint Health-Trinity at Rock Island, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at the Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd. in Moline, IL. Private burial will be in the National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal, with military honors conducted by the Moline American Legion Post No. 246.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014 at the funeral home.
Mr. Burkeybile was born on Sept. 26, 1953 in Trenton, the son of Raymond and Wilma M. Stiner Burkeybile. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as an assembler for John Deere, retiring in April 2013. He enjoyed working on stained glass and spending time with his family.
He was married on June 9, 1973 in Moline to Peggy Reese, who survives of the home.
He is also survived by a daughter, Holly (Mike) Gomez of Geneseo; a son, Shane (Tami Griffith) Burkeybile of East Moline, IL; his mother, Wilma Burkeybile of East Moline; five grandchildren, Austin, Andrew, Alex, Breckan and Marcus and a baby girl due in April.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Richard; and his father-in-law, Dwight Reese.
