Junior Varsity Boys Blast Maysville, 54-11

The Trenton junior varsity boys’ basketball team had no trouble picking up a first-round victory at the Gallatin Junior Varsity Tournament on Thursday night, hammering Maysville 54-11.
Trenton ran out to an 18-0 lead in the first quarter and pushed the advantage to 29-3 by halftime. In the second half, Trenton continued to run away with the game. The Bulldogs took a 50-9 lead into the final frame and coasted to the game’s finish, winning by 43 points.
Leading the way for Trenton was Spencer Harris, who had 14 points, six rebounds and two steals. Colton Ellis added 11 points, four rebounds and two steals and Corbyn Guile finished with eight points and two assists. The Bulldogs also got six points from Ryan Hines, five points and four steals from Connor Cotton, four points and seven steals from Aaron Anderson, four points and two steals from Tucker Franklin and two points and two steals from Trent Crawford.
“Our defense dominated this game from the start,” Bulldogs’ Coach Adam Clark said. “Spencer and Colton led the way on the offensive end and once again Aaron led our defense with seven steals. Corbyn also had a good game – he made two three-pointers for us in the third quarter. The team also shot well from the free-throw line, going 14-for-21.”
With the win, the Trenton JV boys moved to 9-0 on the season.
The Bulldogs now advance to the championship game of the four-team tournament, where they will face the winner of tonight’s Gallatin-South Harrison JV match-up.
The championship game will be played on Saturday in Gallatin, but a time is still pending.
