Funeral services for Sharon E. Whitney are scheduled for 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial will be in the Edinburg IOOF Cemetery in Edinburg.
A visitation is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 tonight (Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014) at the funeral home.
Mrs. Whitney, a 69-year-old Trenton resident, died at 10:48 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Mrs. Whitney was born Jan. 30, 1944 in Galt, the daughter of Leon and Geraldine Carver Davis. She graduated from Trenton High School.
She was married in Edinburg on June 10, 1962 to Ronald “Bloss” Whitney, who preceded her in death Oct. 25, 1998. She worked for Mart Drug Store, Fair Drug and the Family Care Pharmacy. She was a member of the 10th Street Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include her son, Jeff Whitney and his wife, Melinda of Camdenton; two daughters, Denise Thomas of Trenton and Dawn Sjomeling and her husband, Guy of Republic; a brother, Jerry Davis and his wife, Nikki of Trenton; a sister, Helen Hansen and her husband, Merlin of Lexington; and five grandchildren, Nicolas Thomas, Dawson and Jordan Sjomeling and Hannah and Connor Whitney.
Those preceding her in death include her parents; her husband; and a grandson, Zachary Thomas Whitney.
Memorial donations may be made to the City of Trenton Park Department and left at or mailed to the funeral home.
