Rogene Pauline Stroup, an 81-year-old Trenton resident, died on 1:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton. She had previously lived in Dannebrog, NE for more than 50 years.
The body is to be cremated under the direction of Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home of Trenton. No memorial services are scheduled at this time.
Mrs. Stroup was born on Feb. 1, 1932 near Bertrand, NE, the daughter of Frederick and Mabel Lavene Fastenau. She was married on Nov. 23, 1951 at Holdrege, NE to Robert Stroup, who survives of Lenexa, KS.
She is also survived by one daughter, Stephanie Bengtson, and her husband, Dave, of Trenton; one son, Tim Stroup and his wife, Shelly, of Lansing, KS; one brother, Swede “Keith” Fastenau, and his wife, Charlotte, of Bertrand; one sister, Loretta Kuck, and her husband, Leroy, of Bertrand; one sister-in-law, Jacque Stroup, of Holdrege; five grandchildren: Kris Stroup and his wife, Courtney of Marshall, TX, Nick Stroup and his wife, Jenny of Overland Park, Dustin Bengtson and his wife, Karla of Cottage Grove, OR, Nathan Bengtson and his wife, Kristen of Benton; and Mandy Williams and her husband, Ben of Las Vegas, NV; and six great-grandchildren, Harper Stroup and Reid, Gavin, Emmy, Carter and Avery Bengtson.
Those preceding her in death include her parents; one sister, Nita Stroup; one brother-in-law, Sam Stroup; and one sister-in-law, Miriam Fastenau.
Memorial donations may be made to Hodge Presbyterian Church of Trenton, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Dannebrog or Hospice Advantage of Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be left at or mailed to Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home at 813 Custer St., Trenton, MO 64683.
