Franklin Dean Allnutt, an 88-year-old Galt resident, died at 9:45 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at the Saint Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at the Galt Christian Church. Rev. Stan Richardson will officiate. A scheduled vistiation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at the Galt Christian Church. Payne Funeral Home of Galt is handling arrangements. Mr. Allnutt was born on April 3, 1925, the son on Orville Cecil and Ethel Mae Cooper Allnutt. He was married to Bertha Gail Carver on Oct. 31, 1946. He graduated from Grundy R-5/Galt High School in 1943. He was past school board member of Grundy R-5 School and served on the boards of Peoples Co-op and Mid-America Dairy. He was a life-long farmer with dairy cow operations, stock cattle, hogs, sheep, chickens, horses and row crops. He began his music career at a very young age, playing the piano, banjo and trombone and singing with his parents. He later had his own band “Dean Allnutt and the Country Hillbillies.” He enjoyed family trail rides and driving the teams of mules and wagon. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Gail Allnutt of the home; a son, Jerry Allnutt and his wife, Glenda of Galt; a daughter, Cathy Brown of Trenton; 12 grandchildren, Stacey Russell, Angela Shehan, Casey Allnutt, Lynn Ann Coffman, Kevin Allnutt, Carrie Loyd, Shannon Loyd, Steven Loyd, Bailey Jo Brown, Jada Gann, Cassie Allnutt and Nicholas Allnutt; 25 great grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Jane Simmons of Trenton. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Ronald “Ronny” Allnutt and Robert “Bobby” Allnutt; four brothers, Donald, Junior, Bud and Richard Allnutt; and a sister, Mary Lee MacDonald. Memorials are suggested to the North 65 Senior Center. They may be left at or mailed to the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home at 813 Custer St., Trenton, MO 64683.
