Patrick B. Courtney, 35, Galt, had a pre-trial conference scheduled for Jan. 16, with a trial set for Jan. 28, 2014 on charges of first degree murder and armed criminal action.
Jameson E. Read, 24, 2327 Speedway, pleaded not guilty to first degree murder, armed criminal action, abandonment of a corpse, first degree assault with serious physical injury and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 13, 2014.
Cassandra S. Brewer, 29, 315 S.W. 27th St., pleaded not guilty to passing bad checks and had her case set for Jan. 16, 2014.
Stephanie S. Miller, 38, Galt, pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution and stealing and had imposition of her sentences suspended. She was placed on probation for five years. She is to make restitution of $980 plus $75 to the prosecuting attorney’s restitution fund on the stealing charge. Charges of second degree conspiracy to commit burglary and first degree tampering with a motor vehicle were dismissed.
John L. Rick, 64, Spickard, waived formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty to driving while intoxicated (persistent offender) and had his case set for Jan. 16, 2014.
Jeffrey Brown, 30, 2011 Pleasant Plain, had a one-day jury trial set for March 6, 2014 on a charge of non-support.
Justin W. Bryan, 22, 615 W. 15th St., pleaded guilty to non-support and had imposition of his sentence suspended. He was placed on probation for five years, with the special condition that he pay $265 per month on the current support and $50 on the amount in arrears beginning Feb. 15, 2014.
Jeremy Sharp, 34, Laredo, had his case on two charges of non-support set for a one-day jury trial on March 6 (as a second setting).
Wanda Petrie, 57, Cowgill, pleaded guilty to passing bad checks and had imposition of her sentence suspended. She was placed on probation for five years and is to make full restitution of $1,252, paid monthly.
Bobbie J. Nichols, 31, St. Joseph, pleaded guilty to two counts of forgery and was sentenced to serve four years in the Department of Corrections on each charge, with the sentences to run concurrently. Execution of the sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation for five years.
Dewayne Glenn, 45, St. Peters, pleaded guilty to non-support and was placed on probation for five years, with the condition that he pay $598 on the current amount and $1 per month on the amount in arrears beginning April 15, 2014.
Imogene Kindle, 60, Harris, pleaded guilty to passing bad checks and had imposition of her sentence suspended. She was placed on probation for five years and is to make full restitution in the amount of $1,560 through monthly payments.
Crystal G. Simon, 36, Bethany, pleaded guilty to passing bad checks and had imposition of her sentence suspended. She was placed on probation for five years and is to pay restitution of $1,906.39 through monthly payments.
Grover C. Dow, Jr., 37, 1423 Mable St., waived formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty to abuse of neglect of a child. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Jan. 16, 2014.
Daniel M. Betz, 33, 158 E. Fourth St., had a trial date set aside on charges of sale or possession of equipment or parts with an altered identification number, second degree burglary and operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner involving an accident. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Jan. 16, 2014.
Jeffrey A. Vanhoozer, 33, 1423 Chestnut St., waived formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty to two counts of second degree statutory rape for which amended information had been filed. A two-day jury trial was set for Jan. 7, 2014.
Civil Court
Coon Manufacturing vs. Shana Hess d/b/a The Liberty Dock Co. A default judgment was entered in favor of the plaintiff in the amount of $47,348.20. The case involved a suit on account.
