Tri-County Board OKs Additional Bus Route

The Tri-County Board of Education approved an additional bus route and took action on insurance and personnel items during a meeting on Wednesday night at the school in Jamesport.
According to information provided by Superintendent David Probasco, the board agreed to have an additional bus stop within the city limits along with the normal route now being run. The route will now include one stop a half block east of the four-way stop and a second stop across from the park by the apartment complex, which will be the permanent route.
The board agreed to renew its insurance coverage with MUSIC as well as approved a MSBA policy regarding mandated reporting requirements. The board also agreed to allow the FBLA and the FCCLA to conduct fundraisers. The board had second readings of MSBA policy changes and will take action at the January meeting.
The board voted to renew a $150,000 certificate of deposit, which comes due on Dec. 12. The renewal will be for 12 months. In addition to the renewal, the board of education will review cash flow for January and determine if an eight-month or nine-month CD can be arranged at the January board meeting.
Following an executive session, the boar voted to provide staff members with a $50 gift certificate to Jamesport Grocery. Tyler Lane was nominated for the Belcher Scholarship. The board also changed the amount for substitute cook pay from $45 per day to a minimum wage per hour, with the change to take place effective with the December coverage.
The next meeting of the board is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13.
