NCMC Has Lactation Support Program

Nov 25, 2013 | College News

North Central Missouri College in Trenton has announced the launching of a lactation support program for breastfeeding women who wish to continue providing their milk for their infants after they return to school or work.
This program is part of the college’s health benefit services and will continue to be enhanced through suggestions made by students and employees. Funds to support the lactation room were also provided by a grant through the Livingston County Health Department. The program includes a designated comfortable, private area for expressing milk during work hours (located in the Alexander Student Center), which offers access to milk collection kits, an electric breast pump and educational/informational materials.
“Breastfeeding is recommended by all major medical organizations as the optimal way to feed infants because of its significant health advantages,” said Dean of Student Services Dr. Kristen Alley. “NCMC is proud to provide lactation support for students and employees, and we are pleased that our breastfeeding students and employees can successfully merge their important priorities of family, school, and work through onsite lactation support.”
