The Trenton Middle School girls basketball team picked up a 23-15 win over Gallatin Thursday night, giving the Lady Bulldogs the Princeton Tournament championship. The Trenton Middle School basketball teams wrapped up play in the Princeton Basketball Tournament on Thursday night with games against Gallatin. The Lady Bulldogs scored a 23-15 win to give them a 2-0 finish in the tournament and the tournament championship. The boys, meanwhile,suffered a 35-23 loss, giving the Bulldogs an 0-2 showing in the tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs fended off yet another challenger, running their season record to 4-0 with the win over Gallatin. Taylor Richman led the Lady Bulldogs with nine points while Mykah Hurley, Salem Croy and Ashten Whitaker all scored four points each. Ainsley Tolson rounded out the team total with two points.
In the boys contest, Trenton was paced by Jadan Whitney, who had 10 points and two rebounds. Jarren King had eight points and six rebounds while Colton Colston added five points, two rebounds and two steals and Lathan Croy had five points and three rebounds. Cole Schilling gave Trenton two points and six rebounds, Hunter Dugan had two points and two steals, Isaac Harris had three rebounds, Kade Ockenfels had two rebounds and Nick Shields had a steal. With the loss, the Trenton boys fell to 1-3 on the season.
Trenton’s middle school teams will be back in action again on Monday, hosting a four-game set with Chillicothe. Action begins at 4:30 with the B girls game.
