Katherine LaVerne Moorhead, a 95-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 at the Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Pastor Barry Boulware will officiate. Burial will be in the Princeton Cemetery.
There is no scheduled family visitation. General visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at the funeral chapel.
Mrs. Moorhead was born on Sept. 25, 1918 near Ravanna in Mercer County, the daughter of James Gordon and Rebecca Nira Maxwell Bailey. She was raised in Mercer County, graduating from Mercer High School. She later attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.
She was married on July 8, 1939 to Harley Max Moorhead, who preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 2000. After their marriage, the couple lived on dairy farms in the Mercer and Ravanna area for several years before moving to Princeton, where Mrs. Moorhead was the owner and operator of the Princeton Photographic Studio for 20 years. She and her husband moved to Trenton in the early 1980s.
She was a former member of the Mercer and Princeton United Methodist churches and was currently a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church at Trenton.
Mrs. Moorhead is survived by a niece, Dorothy Jean “Dottie” Crane of Kansas City; several great-nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a step-son, Billy Moorhead.
Memorials are suggested to the Wright Memorial Hospital Foundation. They may be left at or mailed to the funeral home or mailed to the foundation at 191 Iowa Blvd., Trenton, MO 64683.
