Florence B. Newkirk, a 93-year-old resident of East Moline, IL, died on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at Illini Restorative Care Center in Silvis.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis, IL. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at the Martin Cemetery, north of Trenton.
Family visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at the mortuary.
Mrs. Newkirk was born on Nov. 6, 1919 in Trenton, the daughter of Roy and Daisy Sawyer Daniels. She married Glenn Newkirk on Aug. 11, 1939 in Trenton. He preceded her in death in 1967. She retired from the East Moline Correctional Center in 1982. She enjoyed her retiree lunch group and spending time with her friends and family.
Survivors include her children, Gary (Kathy) Newkirk of Moline and Melinda (Allen) Reamy of Hampton, IL; five grandchildren, Jody Newkirk, Mike Newkirk, Craig Newkirk, Lisa Mattison and Michelle Williams; six great-grandchildren and one on the way; and a sister, Laura Sue Daniels of Trenton.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and four brothers.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or the Martin Cemetery.
