Princeton Tops North Harrison For District Title

The Princeton Lady Tigers laid claim to the Class 1, District 15 championship Saturday in Eagleville, defeating North Harrison 13-7 in the title game.
North Harrison took a 4-2 lead in the first inning and held a 5-2 lead after three innings. North Harrison added another run in the fourth, but Princeton plated four runs in the fourth to take a 9-6 lead. North Harrison cut the lead to 9-7 in the fifth, but Princeton responded, scoring twice in both the sixth and seventh frames to secure the championship.
“This was the best game we have played all year,” Lady Tigers’ Head Coach Chrystal Mayfield said.
Princeton was led by Kelsey Batson, who drove in a team-high three runs and scored another. Rachelle Parks scored four runs and drove in one. Princeton also got two RBIs and a run scored each by Kianna Kinnison and Ashton Summers.
In the circle, Chelsie Jones took the win, throwing seven innings allowing six earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four.
The Lady Tigers (13-8) move to sectionals now, where they will face Jefferson at home in Princeton on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
