Solid Waste Collection This Weekend

Local residents will be able to dispose of solid waste during a collection event on Saturday at the old Maggie’s Mess building at 807 E. Seventh St.
Collection will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and is sponsored by the city of Trenton, Grundy County and the North Missouri Solid Waste Management District Region B. Waste items banned from the landfill will be collected during the event, which is a residential collection only.
There is a cost associated with some of the items being dropped off. Appliances, such as washing machines, microwaves, etc., can be dropped off for $5 each. Electronics, copy machines, printers and fax machines are also $5 each while televisions can be collected for $10 each. There is no charge for scrap metal, miscellaneous electronics (stereos, telephones, etc.), household batteries, rechargeable batteries, cell phones and intact batteries and ink cartridges.
There is no charge for the first four standard passenger tires per licensed driver, however, there will be a $1 charge for more than four tires. Oversized tires (36 inches and over) can be dropped off for $4 each. Tractor tires are $10 each while a free-will donation will be accepted for household hazardous waste (paint, oil, transmission fuel, etc.) .
