Photo Workshop Is Rotary Club Topic

Sep 27, 2013 | Clubs & Organizations, Meetings

Jim Curley and Duane Dailey of the Missouri Photo Workshop program were the guest speakers at Thursday’s Trenton Rotary Club. Diane Lowrey was the program chairman.
Curley said there are 44 photographers representing 22 states and 12 countries who are participating in the 65th workshop, which is making its second visit to Trenton. Each of the photographers were charged with finding a subject for a photo story, then taking pictures that will be in a public display from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Trenton High School Commons. Curley expressed his thanks to the residents of Trenton for allowing the photographers to come in and take photos. He said the photographers have received “a warm welcome” from the community and their experiences have been very positive.
Dailey, who has been involved with the workshop for 35 years as a student, staff member, co-director and now as director emeritus, said the workshops are designed to show the story of small town America and said Trenton has been “a good lab to work in.”
During the business meeting, Brian Upton was inducted as a new member. He is a financial advisor with Raymond James Financial Group and also is the varsity girls basketball coach at Trenton High School.
It was announced that volunteers are still needed for the Oct. 1 drive-thru flu shot clinic, sponsored by the Grundy County Health Department.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3, at which time the Missouri Day Festival Parade Committee will meet with members and finish up work on the parade, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19.
