Several decorating contests are being held in conjunction with this year’s Missouri Day Festival and the deadlines to enter are fast approaching.
Citizens Bank and Trust is sponsoring the yard decorating contest, with entries taken until Friday, Oct. 11. Persons can contact Cara McClellan at 359-3973 to enter.
The window and entryway decorating contest is sponsored by Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri. Entries can be made by contacting Colleen Williams at 654-1505. The deadline to enter is Oct. 11.
Orscheln Farm and Home is sponsoring the hay bale decorating contest. Bales may be entered by contacting the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce at 359-4324, with the deadline being Monday, Oct. 14. Bales can be taken to Orscheln’s prior to Oct. 14 for judging or will be judged at their rural locations in Grundy County.
Sponsoring the carved, painted and decorated pumpkin contest is US Bank. Pumpkins can be brought to the Rock Barn from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18 and must include a tag with the decorator’s name and telephone number. The co-chairmen are Bonita Price, 359-4226, and Linda Eads, 359-6999.
Farmers State Bank is sponsoring the youth coloring contest. Pages are being provided to schools and home-school children. Pages are to be taken to the chamber office no later than 4 p.m. on Oct. 11. Jeanie Griffin is the chairman and can be contacted at 359-7904.
Contest winners will be recognized during the opening ceremonies at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the First Baptist Church.
The 29th annual Missouri Day Festival will be held from Oct. 18-20.
