In keeping with the theme of “Honoring Our Agricultural Heritage” for this year’s Missouri Day Festival, Orscheln Farm & Home of Trenton is sponsoring their first Antique Tractor Show.
Orscheln Manager Staci Ireland hopes to make this an annual event for the Missouri Day Festival and is excited with the opportunity to invite participants from the Oct. 19 parade to join the local farm and home with a tractor show in the lot of the local store.
Registered exhibitors of antique or restored tractors will be provided with one free lunch per registration, but they must be registered for the parade or for the show to receive a complimentary lunch. Tractors will be lined up around the parking lot for the public to view following the parade and until 2 p.m. on Saturday. Prizes will be awarded by Orscheln Farm & Home and VanSickle Paint Company and will include a $100 gift card to the best of show and a $50 gift card for second place, both to Orscheln’s, along with store merchandise. Additionally, the best of show winner at the local antique tractor show will be featured in the 2014 Orscheln Farm and Home Calendar distributed throughout the midwest.
Persons wanting to enter the tractor show or the parade should contact the local Orscheln’s store or Missouri Day Parade co-chairs Steve Maxey or Rick Klinginsmith.
Additional information has also been released on the hay bale decorating contest being sponsored by the Trenton Chamber of Commerce and Orscheln Farm & Home. Entries for the hay bale decorating contest may be delivered to the Orscheln’s store on Monday, Oct. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. An attendant will assist with unloading and placement of the displays. Otherwise, entries may be judged in a Grundy County field, but registration must be made with either the Chamber or Orscheln’s to allow for the organization of judging.
Gift cards will be awarded in the amounts of $100 for first, $50 for second and $25 for third.
Entries delivered to the local store may come from any individual, family, organization or business, locally or outside the immediate area, while the entries to be judged on the farm must be from a Grundy County residence to allow for the judges to inspect the entry on site.
The entries brought to the store will be a part of the display coinciding with the antique tractor show. Additional information may be received by contacting Orscheln’s at 359-2300.
