The Trenton High School girls tennis team continued its winning ways on Thursday, downing Cameron 7-2 in matches played at Cameron.
The Lady Bulldogs took five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to improve their dual record to 5-4.
Megan Derry led off the varsity singles with an 8-1 win at number one. Trenton also got victories from Alvynne Villacampa at number three, 8-3; Siara Bailey at number four, 8-6; Hanna Sowder at number five 8-1; and Hannah Brinser at number six, also 8-1. Alexis Fender fell at number two singles 5-8.
Derry and Fender teamed up in number one doubles to take an 8-2 win. Villacampa and Bailey fell at number two, 4-8, and Sowder-Brinser got an 8-1 win.
“Cameron had some very consistent players, but we kept our feet moving and were able to get the win,” Coach Abby Gott said.
In the only JV match of the night, Ashley Allen defeated her Cameron opponent in singles 6-2.
Trenton is at the Benton Tournament today and will play in the Cameron Tournament on Wednesday, Sept. 18
