Funeral services for Cecil Ivan Meek are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Burial will follow in the Edinburg IOOF Cemetery at Edinburg.
A visitation is scheduled for 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, 2012 at the mortuary.
Mr. Meek, an 81-year-old resident of Camden, died at 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013 at North Kansas City Hospital.
Mr. Meek was born on Sept. 19, 1931 in Parkerton, the son of Jessie and Margarette Avery Meek. He attended a number of grade schools in the Grundy County area and then graduated from Trenton High School.
He was married in Brooklyn, MO on March 20, 1955 to Betty Edwards. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and later farmed in Harrison County. He also worked as a meat cutter for 12 years with Hy-Vee and IGA. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Camden; a daughter, Marilyn Hall of Warrensburg; two sons, Rick Meek and his wife, Julie of Brookfield and Farrin Meek of Camden; a sister, Anna Losey and her husband, Roger of Browning; a brother, Mervin Meek and his wife, Marilyn of Hilliard, FL; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bud Meek; and a sister, Helen Bozarth.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Edinburg IOOF Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
